Gail V. Partee, 88, Vero Beach

Gail V. Partee, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away on May 29, 2016, surrounded by her loving children.

She is survived by her children Eric Partee of Great Falls, Va., Sharon Partee Carro of Paso Robles, Calif., and Pam Partee of Ukiah, Calif; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007.

Partee was born in Oakland, Calif., on Aug. 7, 1927. She spent her early years in Berkeley, often traveling the western United States with her mother, anthropologist Dr. Erminie Wheeler-Voegelin.

She graduated from the University of Indiana High School, where her parents were on the faculty and where she met her husband, J. Charles Partee. They raised their three children in Chicago and then Washington, D.C. where Charles served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from 1976 to 1986. They spent their first years of retirement on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, boating annually to Florida; they moved to Vero Beach in 1995.

She was an avid reader and lover of nature. She had a generous, compassionate spirit. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
