VERO BEACH — On June 10, 2019 the City of Vero Beach will celebrate its 100th birthday and, though that’s more than three years away, local residents think it’s not too early to start planning.
Members of the city’s committee tasked with planning beautification projects for the Tree City USA suggested to the City Council Thursday that a committee be formed to look at options, and potentially to sketch out a year-long schedule of events focused around Vero’s unique heritage.
The actual incorporation date was June 10, 1919, back when what is now Indian River County was still part of St. Lucie County. The county did not forge out on its own until six years later in 1925.
