INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A county man who has faced 19 other felony charges now has added attempted murder to that list.
Travis Evans, 35, was arrested Wednesday at 3:35 p.m. on a warrant, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, May 12, at 2996 45th St., according to the report, a victim alleged that Evans attempted to shoot him. Two witnesses verified the information.
Around 1:50 p.m. that day, Evans approached the victim with a handgun, according to authorities. The victim ran back toward the business he came out of and Evans chased him.
The victim got into the backseat of one of his customers’ vehicles and attempted to lock the door, according to the report. Evans was able to open one door, but the victim punched him in the face. Then he fought to close the door. Evans then fired one shot, authorities say.
When asked why the incident took place, the victim said it “was over a girl,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Evans faces charges of felony attempted murder, felony shoot or throw deadly missile, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the booking report.
He is being held at the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $700,000 bond. Evans was convicted of seven previous felonies.
