VERO BEACH — Historic Dodgertown will host a charity softball event this Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m. to benefit United Way of Indian River County. The event, “Sawbones vs. Jawbones,” will feature local doctors playing against local attorneys in a game of softball in Holman Stadium.
“We’re looking forward to the game,” said local attorney Bobby Guttridge, who will be participating in this weekend’s event. “We will have a few new faces this year, but it’s become a friendly rivalry. The doctors won last year, and we’re hoping to reclaim the trophy on Saturday.”
This event will raise money to continue to help those in need in the local community. All proceeds of this event will be donated to United Way of Indian River County.
United Way of Indian River County is a locally governed and managed non-profit organization consisting of eight full time staff and run by an all volunteer Board of Directors.
They are one of 1,300 locally run United Way affiliates in the country. Last year, more than 700 volunteers from the community helped further United Way’s activities and goals.
Gates open at 9 a.m. The entrance fee for the game is $5 per person donation or $10 for the family. Concessions will be available.
