Charles Robert “Bob” Crum, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 24, 2016.
He is survived by his son Dan Crum and daughter Amy Hout and their spouses Deborah and Andy; beloved grandchildren Cecelia Batt, Emily Batt, Robert Crum, and Alice Hout; sisters Elizabeth Bischoff and Susan Dickerson; and very close friend Jane Merchant.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Mary Ellen Shepherd Crum, parents Leonard and Eloise, and brothers George and John Daniel.
Crum was born June 3, 1927, in Huntington, W.Va., graduated Huntington High, and then enlisted in the Army where he proudly served his country. After an honorable discharge, while attending Marshall University, he met and married Mary Ellen Shepherd.
He and Ellen moved to Hollywood, Fla., then eventually Fort Lauderdale where Crum worked as a banker, Ellen taught school and they raised their two children, Dan and Amy. Upon retirement in 1991 they moved to Tampa to be close to their daughter and granddaughters. Their final move was to Vero Beach in 2002.
A celebration of life will be held in the Education Building at McKee Garden on Saturday, May 14, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to McKee Botanical Garden or VNA Hospice of Indian River.
