When looking around for a winter home, John and Kathy Link wanted something high in convenience and low in maintenance. They found a perfect three-bedroom home in Riverwind.
Their previous home was an oceanfront condo in Vero, but they wanted a home with more solitude. Their current neighbor, a prominent physician, lives next door with his wife and three children, but the couple says they are seldom aware anyone is there. The home’s construction is so solid the Links rarely hear anything outside their 2,722-square-foot house unless they are outside, seated by their heated pool on the screened porch overlooking the lake.
Both Links used to work for QVC home shopping TV network in Pennsylvania when it was just a start-up company. Kathy modeled on air a little bit and took orders. John took care of all QVC’s computers and phones and played a key role in the company, retiring as an executive vice president. It was an exciting time in their lives.
“I started with them on day one” said John Link. “We rented a building that had a TV stage and put up a bunch of satellite dishes with offices for 150 people because we did everything there … phones, customer service, and our warehouse. Now we have offices and call centers all over the country.”
Retirement meant relaxing in the sun in a beautiful beachside town small enough to easily drive everywhere and be at the beach in minutes.
“Everything is only five minutes away from here – grocery shopping, restaurants and the ocean,” said Kathy Link.
Ironically, after being on the wait list to join Quail Valley for a year, the couple just got the call that they were in after deciding to move. Now they will be leaving without enjoying a single dinner at the soon-to-be completed riverfront club.
“Whoever buys this house can be at the new club on Royal Palm Pointe in minutes,” Kathy Link pointed out.
The Links say they will really miss the spacious home at 1242 River Reach Drive, especially because of its peaceful natural surroundings. Inside, they chose soft, natural colors to reflect a soothing spa-like ambience.
“We love sitting on the porch and looking out over the water,” said Kathy Link. “Sometimes the kids come out with fishing poles to try and catch whatever it is that is always jumping in there.”
All of the rooms in the house have beautiful wood floors, soaring ceilings, and crown and base moldings; the master, entry foyer and formal dining room have elegant tray ceilings, as well.
The formal dining room is just off the open kitchen; custom chair railings and decorative wall moldings on the lower walls add to the room’s graceful charm. A beautifully appointed half-bath is conveniently adjacent to both the living room and the large den/office, which is John Link’s territory.
The master is located on the other side of the house with access to the pool through a glass slider. This stylish haven has a serene ambience produced by the pastel sea-blue wall color.
