Youth Sailing Foundation welcomes its first executive director

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Youth Sailing Foundation (YSF) of Indian River County is pleased to announce the appointment of Stuart Keiller as its first Executive Director.

The Foundation began almost seven years ago with the purpose of introducing sailing to the youth of Indian River County. During the height of the season, there are now 87 students from all walks of life sailing on the Indian River Lagoon in YSF sailboats.

The unique aspect of YSF’s program is that it is free, made possible by generous donations.

A graduate of Dartmouth College and the Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth, Keiller was a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship recipient and served in the Navy on destroyers deployed worldwide. He continued serving in the Navy Reserve for 22 years retiring as Captain after commanding a unit with 55 officers that deployed worldwide in support of the Military Sealift Command.

After spending two winters at Loggerhead Marina in Grand Harbor, with a Bristol 47.7, Keiller relocated to Vero Beach earlier this year.

His recent activities have included chairing a committee of Dartmouth alumni to raise funds and build a bunkhouse at Dartmouth’s White Mountain camp, and serving as President of the Eastern Shore Council of the Navy League of the United States in Easton, Md.

As Executive Director, Keiller will oversee all operations at YSF including day-to-day management of the sailing programs, management of the fund raising efforts, and serving as a liaison with community groups and businesses that support YSF.
