INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The body of a murder victim killed in 1982 has been exhumed at the Winter Beach Cemetery in an attempt to identify her.
The woman was found five miles west of Interstate 95 in a ditch off of State Road 60, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. Thirty-four years later the woman still has not been identified.
When she was found in 1982, she was wearing a white v-neck shirt with gold beads, jeans, and knee highs, according to Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit member Robin Pettey. The woman is a white female.
The skull will be processed using the facial reconstruction techniques that where not available until now, according to authorities. This will be done at a facility in Gainesville.
