William David Keen, 69, Vero Beach

William David Keen, 69, of Vero Beach passed away on March 24, 2016, after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Gail Walker-Keen of Vero Beach; daughters Michelle and Melissa Keen of Vero Beach; stepson Christopher Walker of Okeechobee; stepdaughter Shannon Walker of Sebastian; sisters Dorothy Westfall of Lancaster, Ohio, Sandra Mitchell of Harrells, N.C. and Gay Nell Moore of Glade Spring, Va.; brothers-in-law Curt Thompson of Fort Valley, Va. and Robert Thompson, Jr. of Tupelo, Miss.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Keen.

Keen was born in Barkley, W.Va., to Harold Bascomb and Lovis (Mitchell) Keen. He moved to Vero Beach in 1978 from Boca Raton, Fla.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Army. He had been a Deputy Sheriff with Indian River County before his retirement.

Keen was of the Methodist faith. He was an avid target shooter and hunter, and familiar face at the Florida Law Enforcement Games which he had regularly competed in.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach with a memorial service celebrating his life beginning at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, Florida.
