Thomas F. Pierce, 72, Vero Beach

Thomas F. Pierce, 72, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 15, 2016, after a series of illnesses.

Pierce was born in Summit, N.J., to Everett and Lulu Pierce. He seized life with dynamic energy. He proved to be a magnet for chocolate chip cookies, pretty girls and life-long friendships long before moving to Vero Beach in 1982.

Never a smoker or drinker, Pierce sought fun and adventure through the lens of his camera. He was always in the thick of the action, whether he was taping a simple court transcript or hanging out the door of a helicopter for Piper Aircraft. He possessed impressive press credentials, taking his pals to Cape Kennedy to tape 12 space shuttle launches, including the first night launch. He and Lulu, his mom and best friend, would never miss a Dodger game as he was their official videographer at Dodgertown.

He “did it his way” and left behind an amazing amount of friends who loved him. Cousins Jackie Lynch, Irene Schoenwalder and Christine Mette from the north also grieve his passing.

Memorial Service at 2 p.m. followed by “Tom’s going away party” at Captain Hiram’s Restaurant, 1580 US Highway 1, Sebastian, behind the bandstand, Saturday, May 14, 2 to 5 p.m.
