VERO BEACH — Dive teams from Indian River County and St. Lucie County are looking for a vital piece of evidence in a 2014 murder case.
Dominique Dawson, 27, of Gifford died of a gunshot wound May 28, 2014, in the morning. He was shot near 44th Place and 38th Avenue.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that the evidence was in the Indian River Lagoon near the base of the Barber Bridge, according to authorities.
Detectives are looking for and seeking to interview the person who may have discarded the evidence in the lagoon.
“As Victims Rights Week continues, we push forward with our efforts to close another homicide case from 2014,” said Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar. “Our detectives continuously search for justice for all of the families who have lost loved ones to violence. I am confident that we are one step closer to solving this case.”
