SEBASTIAN — The Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce proudly announces a grand opening, open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on April 22 for the Pelican Porch Visitor Center.
Located in the heart of Sebastian at the intersection of US 1 and Main Street, the Pelican Porch Visitor Center has undergone extensive renovations and remodeling, with a newly added porch complete with rocking chairs facing the Indian River Lagoon.
Funded by business members, community organizations, the Indian River County Tourist Development Council and individuals throughout the Sebastian River Area, the Pelican Porch Visitor Center provides a resource center for visitors and tourists, and connects the businesses with the community.
Serving as the “front door to the community,” the Chamber’s Visitor Center is designated as the official Visitor Center for the National Scenic Byway Program for the Indian River Lagoon National Scenic Byway. Additionally, the Pelican Porch Visitor Center is one of 30 “Certified Travel Information Centers” for Visit Florida, the official tourism and travel agency for the State of Florida.
The Chamber invites the community to come in and enjoy the newly renovated building, with amenities, information and a very welcoming atmosphere.
On Friday, April 22, the Chamber will hold an all-day open house, beginning at 9 a.m., and an official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m., on the porch. The public is welcome to check out the viewfinder recently installed on the porch, overlooking the lagoon, and to sit and relax in one of the rocking chairs while reading local tourism and travel information.
