Mary H. Toomey, 84, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 6, 2016, at her home.
She is survived by her daughters Cindy Hedrick of Fort Pierce, Mary-Ann Simpson of Vero Beach and Kathy Kern of Jacksonville; sons Frank Toomey also of Jacksonville, Robert Toomey of Vero Beach and Daniel Toomey also of Vero Beach; grandchildren Julie(Ken) Tingley and David Bressett, Megan and Michael Simpson, Jacob and Andrew Kern, Kurt, Jennifer, Brian, Hunter, Audrey, and Caylee Toomey, Connor, Sam and Dylan Toomey; great-granddaughter Ella; and brothers James Cassidy and Robert Cassidy.
In 2004, she was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Francis Toomey, Jr.
Toomey was born on May 29, 1931, in Lowell, Mass., to the late Robert and Grace Murphy Cassidy.
She was a 1948 graduate of Lowell High School and moved to Vero Beach in 1973, coming from Dracut, Mass.
For many years she had worked for the American Cancer Society, Vero Beach and spent another five years with Harbor Federal Bank, Vero Beach, as a teller.
She was a volunteer at the Indian River County Library and a member of the Red Hat Society and the Florida-Irish American Society, both of Vero Beach.
A visitation will be held Saturday, April 9 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a Funeral Service to follow at 1 p.m. at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
