John Edward Trainor, 89, of Sebastian, passed away on March 26, 2016, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred A. Trainor of Sebastian; daughter Deborah Trainor of Westwood, N.J.; sons John Trainor, Jr. of Nanuet, N.Y. and Kevin Trainor of Northvale, N.J.; nephew John Compossa of Holtsville, N.Y.; grandsons Michael (Lindsey) and Kevin Jr.
Trainor was born in the Bronx, N.Y., raised his family in Northvale, N.J., and retired to Sebastian from Toms River, N.J., in 2000.
He was a US Army veteran and served as Cannoneer for the 351st Infantry during WWII, where he earned the European African Middle East Northern Campaign Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.
He retired as an elevator electrician with the IBEW Local 3, New York.
Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 25th Ln., Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memor of John E. Trainor.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on March 30, 2016. Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory of Sebastian. A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday March 31, 2016, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private.
