Deca Mae Meyer, 90, Vero Beach

Deca Mae Meyer, 90, of Vero Beach, passed away suddenly on March 13, 2016.

She is survived by her only child Bruce (Joy) of Billings, Mont.; grandchildren Geoffrey (Jody) of Bedford, Texas and Alex (Ceci) of Salt Lake, Utah; and great-grandchildren Nathan and Nicholas of Bedford, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and brothers Charles (Josephine) and Walter (Jacqueline) Bush.

Meyer was born in Huntington, N.Y., on Sept. 29, 1925, to Charles and Deca Busch.

She met her future husband Henry in high school and they married on May 18, 1946 following Henry’s return from serving in the Navy during WWII. They enjoyed more than 68 years of marriage.

Meyer retired from an accounting career with the school district in Northport, N.Y. in 1980 and moved to Sebastian. She and Henry enjoyed conducting a small ceramics business from their home for a number of years.

She enjoyed entertaining many friends in their home, playing gold and a variety of card games with friends and family, and traveling around the country to visit children and grandchildren.

After Henry’s death in 2014, she moved to the Isles of Vero Beach where she enjoyed making many new friends.
