Vero High student arrested for bringing knife to school

VERO BEACH — A 15-year-old Vero Beach High School student was arrested at school on Friday, March 11, for bringing a knife onto school grounds, according to a police report.

The student, who VeroNews.com is declining to name due to his age and circumstances of the arrest, now faces a felony charge for possessing a weapon on school property, the arrest report shows.

Authorities found the knife in the juvenile’s backpack during a search of his property following a disturbance between the defendant and another student.

The knife was not displayed during the incident.

A juvenile complaint affidavit was filed with the State Attorney’s Office and the student was released to a guardian.
