Dorothy I. Dube, 93, Vero Beach

Dorothy I. Dube, 93, of Vero Beach, passed away on March 10, 2016, at her home.

She is survived by her daughter Louise A. Schultheis of Vero Beach; granddaughter Christine T. Schulteis of Chicago, Ill.; grandson Adam D. Schultheis of Leechburg, Penn.; sister Thelma C. Bertonassi of Marlborough, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years in 2004, Ovila.

Born in Marlborough, Mass., on Oct. 2, 1922, to Napoleon and Nellie LaCoutre, she was one of five siblings. She had an extensive career as a social worker and the was promoted to director at Massachusetts Public Welfare, retiring in 1979 after 35 years and moving to Vero Beach from Amesbury, Mass.

Prior to her career, she served in the US Navy as an Aviation Machinist from 1943-1945. She was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, played the organ and piano and was a terrific seamstress. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church since 1979.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach followed by Military Honors. Interment of cremated remains will take place in Massachusetts at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.coxgiffordseawinds.com.
