Guns, drugs, and money seized in raid

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Guns and drugs were seized during the arrests of two people as authorities conducted a search warrant in Gifford.

Tony Weems, 38, and Tina Jones,37, were arrested, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. A search of the residence revealed two handguns, one of which had been reported stolen from an Indian River County home in 2014.

Detectives also recovered nearly 7 grams of cocaine in both powder and crack form, 2 grams of marijuana, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia, and $2,370 in suspected drug money.

“Our detectives have been working hard to eradicate drug dealers from our community,” said Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar said. “When we served this search warrant, a child was in the home. Our detectives have seen children in the home when Weems and Jones were selling drugs. We will not tolerate drug dealers, specifically those who think nothing of operating an illegal narcotics operation in the presence of children.”

Both Weems and Jones were arrested on previous warrants for sale and possession of cocaine, according to authorities. They were both also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine and possession of less than twenty grams of marijuana.

Weems remains in the Indian River County Jail in lieu $97,500 bond while Jones, who is also still incarcerated, received $100,000 bond.
