Laura Belle Liddle Christopher, 85, Sebastian

Laura Belle Liddle Christopher, 85, died Feb. 29, 2016, at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida. She was born in Windham, Ohio, on Nov. 29, 1930, to the late Edward Liddle and Lucille Knapp Liddle.

She enjoyed 42 years of marriage with Samuel Christopher. Together they raised four children, Madelyn Christopher, Marilyn (Ronald) Hurd, Pamela (Barry) Cree, James Christopher, deceased.

She resided at the time of her death in Sebastian, Fla., where she was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. She was current vice-president of St. Sebastian Women’s Guild, served two terms as president of St. Sebastian Women’s Guild.

Along with her husband, she owned three Dairy Queens in Ohio. Since 2002, she has been employed by the Diocese of Palm Beach, where she was devoted to service at St. Sebastian Catholic Church.

She was a graduate of Windham High School, and attended college in Southern Ohio. She was known for her gift of hospitality, and enjoyed baking pies and chocolate cake for her family, friends, and co-workers. At Christmas, all received her specialty, home-made chocolates. A woman of strong faith, she loved to read, crochet, and play games with her great-grandchildren.

Survivors also include her sister Karen (James) Hoskin; daughter -in-law Phyllis (John) Mascolo; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and was soon to be blessed by two to be born in April and August; and too many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins to mention.

She was preceded in death by husband, Samuel, Aug. 25, 1992; son, James, Dec. 8, 1987; brother, Clair Liddle, 1987; and sister Lida Holcomb, 2004.

During her brief illness, she was ministered to by Father John, Father Kevin, Father Gabriel, and the medical family of her daughter at JFK Medical Center. We are grateful for their blessings, compassion, and care. She was surrounded by her family as she was called home to our Lord. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers. Our newest angel is at peace.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Windham, Ohio, on Saturday March 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. Reverend James Lang officiating.
