Eleanor Turner, 99, Vero Beach

Eleanor Turner, 99, of Vero Beach, passed away on Wednesday Feb. 24, 2016, at The Glebe in Daleville, Va. She was born on July 3, 1916 in Philadelphia, Penn., the daughter of the late Anna and Edward Redowitz.

Her husband of 70 years, T. Carlton Turner, her son Darth E. Turner and her sister Judith E. Fredrich predeceased her.

Survivors include her sons Travers C. Turner, Thomas S. Turner; and daughter-in-law, Lynn W. Turner; grandchildren Ryan E. Turner, Ashley T. Brooks, S. Blaire Turner, Cameron T. Hutto, and Clark C. Turner; and great-grandchildren Kylie L. Brooks and Colton S. Brooks. She is also survived by her sister’s children, Evelyn F. Patterson and M. Lisa Turner.

Mrs. Turner was the consummate homemaker who enjoyed rearing her family in West Chester, Penn., where her husband was an owner of Turner Motors, the Mercedes Benz dealership.

She was involved in numerous community activities including serving as long time treasurer of The Town Gardeners of West Chester. After her husband’s retirement, she and her husband resided part-time in Williamsburg, Va., and in Vero Beach, Fla.

She was a member of the Women’s Club of Vero Beach and the Republican “Evening” Club. She was very artistic and received accolades for her talent in crewel handiwork and needlepoint. Over the years, she and her husband traveled extensively in the United States and abroad. She was a lifelong Presbyterian and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach. Mrs. Turner remained a resident of Vero Beach until 2013 when she moved to Virginia to be near family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg, Va. Interment will be in the church columbarium.
