VERO BEACH — Recent transplant and local Vero Beach strength and conditioning specialist LaRue Cook has recently been appointed to the Board of the Florida High School Tennis Coaches Association (FHSTCA).
The FHSTCA is a non-profit organization based in Sebastian that was organized in 2006 with the mission of increasing the interest in high school tennis throughout the State of Florida.
The FHSTCA’s goal is to raise the quality and competence of Florida high school tennis coaches through education and membership.
Cook is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, sports performance coach
and post-rehab trainer who works with middle school, high school, college and adult
athletes of all ages and sports, as well as with children and adults on post-rehab and
General Fitness training.
Cook has served as exercise and sports performance expert contributor to such organizations as ESPN.com, the International Sports Sciences Association, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Cook also serves on the Board of Examiners of the National Board of Fitness Examiners – one of only two trainers in the U.S. selected to serve on that board.
In addition to his work with the FHSTCA Board, Cook serves as a trainer at the John’s
Island Club and is also in private practice serving local Indian River County residents by appointment.
