INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A stranded kayaker was rescued by the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Thursday night near Round Island.
The Indian River Fire Rescue was called out around 6:30 p.m., according to authorities but their boat couldn’t get to her.
She was hanging onto the mangroves on a grass flat after losing her paddle about 1,000 yards out where the Fire Department’s boat couldn’t get to her.
Eventually, the Sheriff’s Office johnboat was able to reach and rescue her around 8:30 p.m.
Neither the kayaker’s identity nor the extent of any injuries have been released.
