Linda Morris Johnson, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 20, 2016, amidst her family at the VNA Hospice House after a brief fight with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joseph D. Johnson, Sr.; their two children, Joseph D. Johnson, Jr., and Elizabeth Johnson Thomas; daughter-in-law Sherry Johnson and grandchildren, Joseph D. Johnson, III, and Kimberly Johnson, son-in-law, Dr. Joe Thomas, and grandchildren, Curran and Dr. Kritika Thomas. She is also survived by her only sibling, Barbara Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her mother Thelma McCall Morris and her father Grady Thomas Morris.
Johnson was a fourth generation Vero Beach resident.
Her illustrious career path included working for the FBI and the Department of the Army at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She returned to Vero Beach, where she met and married the love of her life Joseph D. Johnson, Sr.
Together they owned and operated Johnson’s Flower World for more than 15 years. She and her husband were active members for the Indian River County Volunteer Ambulance Squad, leading to a career as a paramedic for Martin County EMS, Indian River Memorial Hospital, and Indian River County EMS for more than 30 years.
She earned her nursing degree from Indian River State College and worked with VNA and private duty nursing through 2015.
A Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach 1750 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL, 32960. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Linda M. Johnson, to VNA Hospice House 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960-4801.
