Joan MacWilliam Schardt, Vero Beach

Joan MacWilliam Schardt, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on Feb. 21, 2016, at the Hospice House in Vero Beach.

She is survived by her four loving children, Billy Schardt (Barbara), and daughters Jenae Collins (Clay), Suzy Bloch (Jimmy Dupuis), Megan Hedin (Norman). She will be greatly missed by her seven wonderful grandchildren, Clayton Collins (Lesley), Bobby Schardt (Rachel), Carrie Collins Boudrias (Chet), Michael and Matthew Bloch, Hannah and Sarah Hedin, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Peter and Robert MacWilliam of Vero Beach, sister Barbara Fultz of Savannah, and many caring nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, George William Schardt, Jr. (Bill), brothers Edgar, Alex, and Billy MacWilliam and sister, Helen Glenn.

A native of Vero Beach, Schardt was born into the local pioneer family of Alexander D. and Jeanette MacWilliam on Nov. 8, 1928.

She is remembered for her genuine love of family, children, and gardening.

Friends and family are invited to a Catholic mass Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church, interment following at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
