Dorothy Caswell Boynton, 94, Sebastian

Dorothy Caswell Boynton, 94, of Sebastian, passed away peacefully and graciously with her daughter and youngest son at her side, on Feb. 19, 2016.

She is survived by her children Jay C. Boynton (Robin) of Andover, N.H., Paul S. Boynton of Candia, N.H., Elizabeth A. Boynton of Portsmouth, N.H. and Steven B. Boynton, of Sebastian; grandchildren Chris Boynton, Jennifer Boynton, Joshua Boynton, Molly Hoffman, Timothy Boynton, Phillip Boynton, Casey Boynton, and Curran Russell along with many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jason Elmer Boynton with whom she shared a devoted marriage for over 68 years, her middle son Thomas Bradford Boynton, his daughter/her granddaughter Kelly Boynton, and former daughter-in-law, Susan C. Boynton.

Boynton was born Oct. 9, 1921, in Portsmouth, N.H. She spent much of her early and middle years in New Hampshire raising her children and sharing in her husband’s career in education.

Later they moved to Florida and became part of the Sebastian community. Throughout her life and with her husband, Boynton followed a Christian faith.

She enjoyed collecting beach glass, playing golf, and swimming, enjoyed a good joke and remained an avid sports fan throughout her life. She remained engaged in politics and world events as well as walking in the neighborhood up until several days before her death.

Her family is grateful to Steven B. Boynton for his commitment to helping her stay at home during her last years as well as the private duty support staff from “A Moments Notice” especially the compassionate, skilled, and long-term care from Susie and Betty. She was grateful for her close friends and fellowship of Christ the King Church for their continued love and support. Private memorial services are being held in Florida and New Hampshire.

Her family holds her very dear and despite the sadness in her death believe that her spirit and love will continue to touch them every day. Godspeed Dorothy, Mom, Dorrie, Dot, Mrs. Boynton, and Grandmama!
