Dr. Charles D. “Charley” Hall DDS, 86, of Vero Beach, passed away at home on Feb. 13,2016, with his family by his side.
He is survived by his wife Doris; son Bruce Hall (Carrie); daughter Krista Simpson (Richard); and four grandchildren.
Born Jan.19, 1930 in Evansville, Ind., he attended Bossie High School, was a member of the school football team, lifeguarded for the city and attended Evansville College. Hall went on to attend Indiana University, where he graduated as Doctor of Dental Surgery. While attending IU, he won the Indiana State Diving Championship and in 1955 married Doris Christensen, his wife of 60 years.
He served in the USAF as a Captain at Bentwaters AFB, England before returning to Indianapolis and graduating with a Masters in Periodontics from IU. Following his graduation in 1959, he established his dental practice in Coral Gables, Fla.
In 1979, he established a practice in Vero Beach and continued to serve patients in Miami and Okeechobee until his retirement in 1996.
Hall volunteered at Homestead AFB in South Florida, served as President of the Florida Association of Periodontics 1974-1975, and served on numerous doctor-to-doctor mission trips to South America.
He was owner/handler of championship Samoyeds in both England and the US, and enjoyed sailing. He loved working and then relaxing with a gin and tonic and cigar in hand on the front porch of the family farm, Fishhawk Cove, in Western North Carolina.
He was a member of Vero Beach Country Club, where he enjoyed his weekly rounds of golf and was well known among friends and family for his sense of humor and infectious smile.
