Accused drug dealer with violent past lands in jail again

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A confidential informant led authorities on Saturday to arrest an accused cocaine dealer with an extensive arrest history in Indian RiverCounty.

Toranto Thomas, 32, of 4536 30th Avenue, Vero Beach is being held in lieu of 40,500 bond.

He faces felony charges that include possession and sale of cocaine, and a misdemeanor charge for resisting arrest without violence.

Thomas was first booked into the Indian River County Jail in October 2011, and has since been booked on multiple occasions for drug related charges.

He landed in jail in July of 2012 accused of a number of violent crimes, including armed robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and others.

Most recently, Thomas led authorities on a car chase in November 2015 that ended when he crashed into a tree. The November report notes Thomas yelled out to an unknown subject to pull out a firearm and shoot police during the pursuit.
