Officer injured while pursuing hit-run driver in Indian River Shores

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An Indian River Shores Public Safety officer was injured while pursuing a hit-and-run driver in town Thursday.

The suspect, identified as Jason Rosson, 32, of Rossville, Ga., fled the scene at a high rate of speed down A1A causing multiple vehicles including one police cruiser to veer off the road to avoid collision.

Rosson entered an occupied residence via an unlocked door and parked his car inside the garage, according to the arrest report.

He continued on foot into wooded area where he later injured at least one officer as several pursued his arrest.

Rosson was arrested in the 2100 block of Seminole Shores Lane.

A search revealed Rosson was in possession of methamphetamines, the arrest report shows.

Rosson faces charges felony charges that include battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, burglary of an occupied dwelling and resisting arrest with violence.

He faces additional charges for possession of amphetamines and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.

He is being held in the Indian River County Jail without bond.
