INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An Indian River County man, with an extensive arrest history in the county, is in jail again for selling cocaine after authorities went to his home Friday with a search warrant.
George Whitfield, 57, of 5025 32nd Court, Vero Beach was arrested Friday following the search warrant’s execution. Whitfield is being held in the Indian River County Jail without the option of posting bond.
He faces multiple felony charges for trafficking, selling and possessing cocaine. He is also accused of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
In January, the Sheriff’s Office received several tips that Whitfield was selling cocaine out of his home. A narcotics investigation ensued and a confidential informant successfully purchased cocaine from Whitfield in a “controlled buy” monitored by authorities, according to the police report.
The Sheriff’s Office executed the latest warrant on Feb. 5. It yielded more than 104 grams of cocaine, $1,700 in cash and various paraphernalia.
Whitfield was arrested on the spot and transported to the Indian River County Jail without incident.
Back in October, Whitfield was arrested following an investigation during which authorities discovered drugs, cash, weapons and stolen property at Whitfield’s residence and another residence at 5035 32nd Court Vero Beach.
Whitfield was released a few hours later on $35,000 bond.
He was nabbed again in November for possession of cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, but was released the next day on $6,000 bond.
Due to the repeat nature of his alleged crimes, Whitfield does not have the ability to post bail and get out of jail while he awaits his day in court this time around.
