INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — McKee Botanical Garden is pleased to announce that Roar of the Dinosaur, featuring the life-sized creations of well-known fossil collector Guy Darrough, will be on display at the Garden beginning Feb. 2, 2016.
Roar of the Dinosaur offers a realistic glimpse into the prehistoric world, allowing visitors to experience what life was like millions of years ago when dinosaurs roamed the earth.
The exhibit will feature 14 life-sized installations positioned throughout the Garden, where the massive creations will appear right at home nestled among McKee’s native plants and jungle-like landscape. Dinosaurs will range in size from 14-inch Sordes to a massive 33-foot Daspletosaur, each one carefully crafted for authenticity.
The exhibit will also include plants representative of the prehistoric time period as well as a Dino Dig Site where children will be able to unearth hidden dinosaur bones. Interpretive signage containing facts about the dinosaur species will accompany each display.
Roar of the Dinosaur incorporates sculptures from the highly successful Original Dinosaur Invasion, which took McKee visitors by storm in 2007 and Return of the Dinosaur Invasion which appeared at the Garden during its 2009-2010 season. In addition, Roar of the Dinosaur will feature four sculptures never-before-seen at McKee.
“Dinosaurs are truly fascinating creatures, and we are thrilled to welcome back Guy Darrough’s life-like creations for this family-friendly exhibit,” said McKee Botanical Garden Executive Director Christine Hobart. “Roar of the Dinosaur will inspire a new generation of paleontologists, and provide a unique and engaging way for our visitors to learn more about these prehistoric giants.”
Roar of the Dinosaur will be on exhibit at McKee Botanical Garden Feb. 2 through May 1, 2016.
