Armed felon arrested after foot pursuit

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An Indian River County deputy pursued and apprehended an armed felon with multiple warrants out for his arrest, in a foot chase on Thursday in the 4300 block of 35th Avenue.

The deputy stopped a vehicle and recognized the passenger of the vehicle, Glenn Brown, 24, of 1590 Polynesian Lane, Sebastian, as a known felon with six warrants out for his arrest, according to the arrest report.

Brown took off running and the deputy followed close behind. Brown removed a handgun from his waistband and threw it away from him.

The deputy deployed his taser and arrested Brown on the spot. A search of his person revealed MDMA ecstasy in Brown’s front pocket.

Authorities recovered the .25 caliber handgun and found it had a loaded magazine and a round in the chamber.

In addition to past charges, Brown now faces charges for carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, tampering with or destroying evidence, resisting arrest without violence, and possession of ecstasy/MDMA.

Brown had warrants out for his arrest for third degree grand theft, felony utter forged or counterfeit bill, and misdemeanor battery.

He is being held in the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $96,000 bond.
