Charles Merwin “Bud” Travis, 94, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 25, 2016, five days before his 95th birthday.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances Chandler Travis; son Peter Chandler Travis (Marybeth); daughter Deborah Martin Travis; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Lucy Willis; and three great-grandsons.
Born in Philadelphia and a graduate of the Taft school, Travis later served in the United States Army Air Corps as a B-17 bomber pilot.
After the war he joined Burlington Industries, eventually becoming president of its fiber-glass textiles division.
He enjoyed golf, fly fishing and the company of his many friends. He also delighted in devising surprise adventures that took his family to many parts of the world.
He was a member of the Riomar Country Club, the Oak Harbor Club and the Weeburn Country Club of Darien, Conn.
