Sebastian man jailed for using car as weapon

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A homeless man in Sebastian is in jail facing a charge for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he rear ended a truck with two people inside, under the Wabasso Bridge.

Patrick Ochsenhirt, 52, is being held in the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.

One of the victims told authorities he was in his brother’s truck with Ochsenhirt’s girlfriend when Ochsenhirt “rammed” them from behind. The other victim did not comment on the incident.

Ochsenhirt said he “bumped the truck” because he wanted to speak to the woman inside.

The collision caused damage to both vehicles involved. No injuries were reported in the arrest affidavit.
