John Edward Pullin, 81, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully a the VNA Hospice Residence, on Jan. 21, 2016.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eileen; his two sons, Kenneth R. Pullin and Jon D. Pullin both of Lafayette, Ind.; three sisters, Jean Campbell, Josie Zacker from Rensselaer, Ind., and June Lang of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jace Edward Pullin of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Kenzi Rea Zack of Rensselaer, Ind.; also many friends including his lifelong friend Walter Arnett of Pacific, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Max and Edna Dorothy (Kelpe) Pullin, of Rensselaer, Ind.
Pullin was born Dec. 9, 1934 to Joseph Max and Edna Dorothy (Kelpe) Pullin in Pacific, Mo. On May 27, 1960 he married Cecelia Eileen Ferguson in Key West.
He served in the navy for 30 years and retired in 1975 as a Master Chief Boatswain Mate, E9. During his time in the navy he served in Korea and Vietnam and was highly decorated for his service. After retiring from the navy he moved to Vero Beach and worked at the Rio Mar Yacht Club in Vero Beach and the Eau Galle Yacht Club in Satellite Beach, Fla.
He was a member of the Prairie #125 F&AM Masonic Lodge, as a 32nd degree mason, the American Legion and VFW Post #1279 all of Rensselaer.
Burial services will be held at Weston Cemetery in Rensselaer, Ind., and will be announced at a later date.
