Humane Society hosts animal legislation program, brunch Jan. 30

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County will be hosting “Making a Difference for Florida’s Animals,” a legislative program and complimentary brunch in its Adoption and Education Center on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The shelter is located at 6230 77th St., Vero Beach.

This program will provide the public with information about proposed animal-related bills and issues including: Injury reporting for Florida’s racing greyhounds, animal cruelty, dogs in hot cars and bear protection.

Guest speakers are Kate MacFall, Florida Director for The Humane Society of the United States and Carey Theil, co-founder of the greyhound advocacy group Grey2KUSA Worldwide.
