Nicholas A. McGrath, 40, Sebastian

Nicholas A. McGrath, 40, of Sebastian, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 16, 2016, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Kristen McGrath of Sebastian and sons Vincent and Dominic both of Sebastian.

McGrath was born in Lowville, N.Y., and resided in Sebastian since 1999.

He was the owner and operator of Big Nic Prints in Sebastian for the past 10 years and also worked for St.Vincent de Paul thrift store as well as TJ’s NewYork Style Pizzeria. He was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus, Cub Scouts Troop 525, Boy Scouts Troop 500, Sebastian River Little League and Pelican Island School activities.

McGrath gave “family first” a whole new meaning. He was a man who truly cherished his wife and two sons. He was a big man with an even bigger heart whose smile could light up a room. He touched all of those who were blessed to know him.

Wherever you drive in Indian River County there will be a little bit of “Big Nic” everywhere. “I will always love you big big “Pooh,” love your “Honey.”

In lieu of flowers, a Facebook “gofundme” account (https://www.gofundme.com/vhjp54as) has been set up to help the family.

Calling hours will be at Strunk Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 20, 2016 with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday Jan. 21, 2016 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church.
