INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 29-year-old Indian River County man accused of impregnating a minor was arrested Thursday afternoon.
Edy Aguilar-Juarez, 29, of 1675 20th Court SW, Vero Beach, faces a felony child abuse charge for impregnating a child under 16. He also faces one charge of lewd and lascivious battery on a child age 12 to 16.
He was released from the Indian River County Jail on $25,000 bond.
Aguilar-Juarez has known the victim for more than five years and began a relationship with victim in 2014, according the the warrant affidavit.
He was 28 at the time, but told authorities he had told the victim he was 23, the report states.
In Florida, the age of consent is 18.
Aguilar-Juarez told authorities he knew about the baby and had told the victim’s parents he planned to take responsibility for the child.
