Louis Sugar, 80, of Sebastian, passed away on Jan. 12, 2016, in Melbourne Beach.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Sugar of Sebastian; daughters Susan Sugar (John) of Winter Haven and Wendy Sugar Thomas of Kenner, La.; granddaughter Madeline Sugar Thomas; grandson Clay Elliott Thomas; brother Paul E. Sugar (Nancy) of Albuquerque, N.M.; and sister Margaret Crawford of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his brother Stephen Sugar.
Sugar was born in Ogdensburg, N.J., and lived in Sebastian since 2005 coming from Meredith, N.H.
He was a graduate of Franklin High School, Franklin, N.J., attended Miami Dade Junior College and received his Bachelor’s Degree from FIU. He was a US Air Force veteran serving as a Crew Chief in Goose Bay, Labradore, the Azores and Homestead Air Force Base, Florida.
Sugar retired from the City of Miami Beach Police Department after 25 years in 1983. He also worked Security at New Boston AFB, New Hampshire.
He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian and was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus.
