R. Walter ‘Walt’ Dunn, 90, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 11, 2016, at the VNA Hospice House.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sara “Sally” Dunn of Vero Beach; son Randall Dunn of Houston, Texas; daughter Debra (Bruce) Shambaugh of Carpenter, Wyo.; step-son Michael (Christine) Greenman of Miami; step-daughter Christine Marchetti of Miami; grandchildren Christian (Jennifer) Dunn, Trisha Dunn, Jon Dunn, Cody (Shannon) Dynes, Olivia (Andrew) Quasada and Madison Marchetti; great-grandchildren Brianna Dunn, Vance Dunn and Julianne Quasada; sister Elaine and ( Larry) Coughlin of Brush, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his brother Norman Dunn and his sister Eleanor Dunn.
Born Dec. 11, 1925, to Eleanor and Roland Dunn in Denver, Colo., he was the eldest of four children.
On his 18th birthday, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served until the end of WWII. After he went on to attend and graduate from the University of Colorado, and then went on to pass the CPA exam in Colorado.
After graduation, he worked for an accounting firm in Denver, Husky Oil Company in Cody, Wyo., and Frontier Airlines in Denver, Colo. In 1963 he moved to Miami where he worked as the Controller for National Airlines, and was promoted to Treasurer and Financial Vice President of National Airlines. He retired in 1979 after PanAm merged with National Airlines.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2555 58th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL. 32966.
