UPDATE: Tire slashers start up again in 2016

FELLSMERE — Tire slashers are targeting Fellsmere vehicles, again. Already the toll has surpassed $10,000 in damage.

The newest incident occurred Jan. 6 and 7 between 9 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. in the 100 block of S. Orange Street, according to police. The knife used has a half-inch wide blade.

In 2015 there were 13 instances of slashed tires.

Authorities say dozens of Fellsmere residents have fallen victim to the crimes with damages adding up to more than $10,000 in total.

Anyone with information regarding the crimes could be eligible for reward up to $3,000. To report information, call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS.
