INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A “lifted” pick-up truck or SUV is believed to be the type of vehicle that struck and killed a man on 20th Avenue SW on New Year’s Day.
The Florida Highway Patrol has released information pertaining to the vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run, noting that it might be orange in color and sustained minor front-end damage.
The crash occurred around 9 p.m. Jan. 1 in the area of 20th Avenue SW and 1st Place SW in South Vero.
The pedestrian has been identified as 55-year-old Daniel David Letts, of Vero Beach.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Letts was walking northbound on 20th Ave. SW when an unknown vehicle collided with him and fled the scene.
A second vehicle, also traveling northbound, struck Letts after not observing him in the road, FHP said.
That driver has been identified as Carol Ann Decosa, 51, of Vero Beach, who was driving a 2007 Chevy SUV.
Decosa remained on scene following the collision.
