Dorothy M. “Dot” Zaumseil, 85, of Vero Beach, passed away on Dec. 27, at Norwalk Hospital.
She is survived by her daughter Kristen Zaumseil of Norwalk and her son, David Zaumseil, of Telluride, Colo.; her two cherished granddaughters, Kealey Zaumseil and Kenzie Zaumseil, also of Telluride; her aunt Katherine Slavinsky of Stamford; her cousins Jack Slavinsky (Ellen) and Robert Slavinsky (Jennifer) all of Redding, Conn., Donna Miller (Jeffrey) of Woodbury, Conn., and Jeannie Anderson (Gary) of Danbury, Conn. She had a very special place in her heart for our triplets with whom she enjoyed such special times and shared a special bond — Jack, Katherine and Ava.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Dot was predeceased by her uncle, John Slavinsky, her aunt, Mary Muskovitz, and her cousins, Joseph Muskovitz and Ann Gostomski.
Zaumseil was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Stamford, Conn., and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Zvonkovich) Mravunac.
She graduated from Stamford High School, obtained her BS at the University of Connecticut (a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority), and earned her Masters Degree from the University of New Hampshire.
She was a teacher in Mamaroneck, N.Y., Penacook, N.H., and finished her educational career as a guidance counselor in the Bedford, N.H., school district which gave her great joy and allowed her to be in constant touch with children, a gift she treasured.
Zaumseil’s additional passions were ice cream, movies, animals and many continued relationships with friends from high school, college, work and her retirement pals in Florida. You all know who you are, and please know how much Dot loved and cherished your friendships.
Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk. Interment will take place at a later date.
