James F. Carrow, 83, Vero Beach

James F. Carrow, 83, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on Dec. 20, 2015, with his family by his side.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary (DeCourcey); daughters Mary Beth Carrow, Ellen (Robert) Hobson, Chrissy Carrow and Kathleen (Michael) Chalich; grandchildren Aaron, Sarah, James, Ryan, Jacqueline, Katie and Connor; great-grandchildren Tatiana and Khalil; and sister Betty Norcross.

He was preceded in death by his father James F. Carrow Sr., mother Elizabeth (Lewis) and brother William.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Penn., he attended West Catholic High School and graduated from LaSalle University in Philadelphia.

He enlisted in the US Navy and served his country in the Korean War on the USS Knapp. He retired from teaching in the Philadelphia School District after 35 years. He spent many summers in Wildwood, N.J. and traveled extensively.

Carrow enjoyed 20 happy years in Vero Beach after relocating here in 1995. He was a devoted husband and loving father. He was known for his quick witted humor and could always make you smile.

A Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. at St John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach on Monday, Dec. 28, 2015 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Internment and Military Honors will follow at 1:45 p.m. at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
