INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Celebrate a holiday tradition at McKee Botanical Garden or start a new one during McKee Botanical Garden’s “Holidays at McKee” event taking place Dec. 21, 22 and 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. Create lasting memories by strolling through a wonderland of thousands of lights and festive decorations.
Get into the spirit with classic holiday music played by a fully-restored 1924 Wurlitzer band organ, and prepare to be awed by the large-scale model railroad display, an annual favorite, featuring four trains running on three levels of more than 200-feet of solid brass tack.
For the children, there is a holiday letter writing station and a chance to visit with the big man himself, Santa Claus. The Garden Gift Shop will be stocked with treasurers for last minute gift-giving, and Osceola Bistro at the Garden Cafe’ will be open, serving a special menu of holiday snacks and sweets.
Enjoy a special exclusive performance by The First United Methodist Handbell Ensemble on Tuesday, Dec. 22, from 6 to 6:30 p.m. in the Bamboo Pavilion.
General admission rates apply for “Holidays at McKee,” $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, $8 for children age 3-12, members and children under 3 are free. The Garden will close at its regularly scheduled time of 5 p.m. and re-open at 6 p.m. for the evening event.
