Robert E. Auble, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away at Willowbrooke Court at Indian River Estates on Dec. 9, 2015.
He is survived by his wife Joan; daughters Elaine Huston (Howard), Jackie Auble, Ceilia Lewandoski (Joe); step-daughters Victoria Floyd and Deborah Rodgers (George); and many grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
He is predeceased by a son Thomas E. Auble PHD, a younger sister, Carolyn and an older brother Harry. Also, his first wife, Helen.
Auble was born in Tiffin, Ohio, to Sue and Harry Auble. After serving in the Navy on the Battleship Wisconsin, he graduated from Heidelberg University, Tiffin, Ohio with a BA in Accounting and Physical education. He earned a Master’s Degree in general science from University of Toledo.
He coached football and baseball throughout his career and also taught chemistry and physics at Brecksville High School, south east of Cleveland, Ohio.
In 1984, he retired and married Joan Brandt. They moved to Bel Air, Md., where he took up golf, was a member of the Swan Creek Country club, in Harford County, Md., and volunteered with AARP to help with income taxes for low income families.
He and his wife traveled extensively throughout the US and Canada, pulling a fifth wheel travel trailer. While in Bel Air, he became active in the Lion’s club and served as their president. In 1991, he and his wife moved to The Country Club of Sebring, in Sebring, Fla., where they continued to play golf and travel to many parts of Europe and Asia. In 2004 they moved to Indian River Estates in Vero Beach.
Arrangements have been made at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home. Services will be held in Bel Air, Md., at a future date. Contributions can be made to your favorite charity.
