Lorraine Crawford Hendrick, 82, Vero Beach

Lorraine Crawford Hendrick, 82, of Vero Beach, passed away on Dec. 11, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her husband Richard Hendrick; her four children Richard, Donna, Brad, and Craig; her 10 grandchildren, Tara, Evan, Tyler, Zachary, Briana, Erica, Nicholas, Andrew, Ariel, and Skylar; and one great-grandchild Vanessa.

Hendrick was a darling great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother, and beloved wife.

She was born Lorraine Crawford on the Jan. 26, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y. where she spent most of her childhood. Her family then moved to Canandaigua, N.Y. where she stayed until returning to Brooklyn to pursue an education.

She attended the New York State Institute of Technology where she met her husband of 62 years, Richard Hendrick.

Majoring in Chemistry, she had a promising career at Pfizer as a chemist. She and Richard spent nearly 50 years on Long Island before moving to Vero Beach, where they happily spent her last 15 years.

We will miss so much about her. We will miss the way she took in our friends like they were her own, when she stayed up late watching movies to celebrate our first glass of wine, Saturday morning phone calls, Christmas and New Year’s gatherings, the way she smiled at the sight of her first and only great-grandchild, helping her cook her infamous dish Spanish Rice, and the friendship with her co-worker that led her son to the love of his life. Most importantly, her beloved husband Richard will never forget the moment they met and the night he proposed to marry his angel. All of these memories will forever be engraved in all of our hearts.

She was so full of wisdom, strength, life, and love. She taught us all so many things, for which we are all grateful. Her greatest lesson to us is living with an open heart and welcoming nature. Our family has been spread far and wide in recent years, yet we never stopped caring, thinking of, or loving one another due to the strong foundation that she built for us. She was our person, she was our rock, she was our glue, and things will never be the same. Yet, because of her grace and love we will have the strength to move forward, to cherish, and hold dear all the memories we have created together.

The pain of our loss is eased knowing that she is at peace and without suffering. Absent from the body, present with the Lord.

Love you forever and always our sweet angel. Until we meet again.
