3 teens nabbed for auto burglaries

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Three teenagers were arrested, accused of committing numerous auto burglaries in Vero Beach along 15th Avenue.

“Our deputies did a great job this weekend capturing three burglars responsible for numerous auto burglaries in the area,” said Sheriff Deryl Loar. “We will continue to investigate them for other outstanding auto burglaries, which we are confident they are responsible for. Please remember to lock your vehicles and help us prevent this type of crime.”

According to the Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a call early Saturday morning regarding three suspicious male juveniles looking into vehicles parked in driveways in the 1800 block of 15th Avenue.

Deputies who responded found three teens ages 14, 15, and 16, in possession of a stolen bicycle, multiple sunglasses, phone chargers, and other miscellaneous items taken from unlocked vehicles, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“All three confessed to the auto burglaries stating they were unable to identify all of the vehicles they had broken into,” the report states.

The juveniles were arrested and taken to the youth detention facility in St. Lucie County. Due to the non-violent nature of the accused crimes, the Sheriff’s Office did not identify the teens.
