Donnie C. Ausby Sr. (Ret. U.S. Army MSG), 66, of Vero Beach, passed away on Nov. 18, 2015, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Betty J. Sipe Ausby of Carlisle; two sons, Donnie C. Ausby, Jr. of Miami and Raymond E. Ausby of Carlisle; three daughters, Ava A. (Todd) Menefee of Atlanta, Ga., Christian N. Wilson of Carlisle and Keondra S. Dawson-Ausby of Carlisle; two brothers, Benjamin Ausby of Stuart, and Arthur Ausby, Sr. of Palm Beach; three sisters, Ethel Ausby, Barbara Ausby-Williams and Helen Ausby, all of Vero Beach; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Ausby, Jr. and Charles Ausby; and two sisters, Carolyn Ausby and Ellinora Ausby.
Ausby was born on Feb. 10, 1949 in Vero Beach to the late Claude B. Ausby, Sr. and Inez Ausby.
He retired as a Military Police Officer with the USA Readiness Group at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Penn. He was a member of Mt. Victory United Methodist Church in Gardners. Above all he enjoyed helping and encouraging anyone that he came in contact with as well as spoiling his grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015 at St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church, 4250 38th Ave., Gifford. Officiating will be Pastors Andrew Jefferson, Sr. and Larry Taylor. Interment will be private. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the church.
