Linda Newell Jennings, 70, of Vero Beach, passed away on Dec. 6, 2015, in her home in Greensboro, N.C., surrouned by her loving family, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
She is survived by Maurice Newborne Jennings, her devoted husband of 34 years; children Cooper Fowler, Sinclair McLean (Robert), Burney Jennings (Dina) and Fran Teeter (Chris); sisters Betty Tyner (Fred), Henrietta Meaney (John); and grandchildren Cooper, Alex and Pearce Fowler, Eliza Jane, Dickson, Malcolm and Henry McLean, Tricia and Gordon Teter, and Blake (Melanie), Bailey, Mary Francis, and John Jennings.
Jennings was one of three daughters of the late Eliza Walters and L. Henderson Bullard. She was born in Robeson County, N.C., on June 25, 1945, and always held true to the values she learned growing up there. She attended East Carolina University, graduating from its nursing program, and went on to become a nurse and later to teach nursing.
She was known for her love and affection for her family and friends, her encouragement, her inner beauty and elegance, her wisdom and humble nature, and most importantly, her deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. Her thoughtful, generous, and vivacious spirit will be missed by so many.
Jennings also lived in Vero Beach where she had many dear friendships and enjoyed being active in the Community Church of Vero Beach, Bible study, the United Way, Garden Club, Habitat for Humanity, and the Family Center of Vero Beach.
In Greensboro, she continued her love for her church, family and friends, and she was involved with the Ubiquity Garden Club, the United Way, Family Services of the Piedmont, the Antiques and Artifacts Club, the Greensboro Symphony Guild and the Greensboro Bible Study Club.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home located at 515 N Elm Street, Greensboro, NC. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10, at the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, NC. Following the service, the family will gather with friends in the Mullin Life Center.
