INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Florida Department of Health in Indian River County’s Dental Clinic, along with Indian River State College and other local dentists, is participating in this year’s Project Christmas Smile! This one day event, sponsored by the Treasure Coast Dental Society, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at various participating locations along the Treasure Coast.
Project Christmas Smile! is being offered to the community by participating dentists and their staff in the spirit of the holiday season so that no one has to wake up Christmas morning with a toothache.
One free basic dental service of either an extraction or a filling will be provided for people suffering from discomfort that are not able to afford dental treatment.
“This is a great opportunity to help relieve dental pain and suffering for those who would otherwise be unable to obtain such treatment, especially during a time that should be filled with happiness and celebration,” said Miranda Hawker, health department Administrator. “The continued collaboration of those in the dental community coming together to help those in need in our community is truly wonderful,” Hawker said.
Dr. Heidi Turk, Dr. Conrad Kusel, Dr. Rick Root, Dr. James Betancourt, Dr. Hagen Hastings, Dr. Denise Pieczynski, Dr. Louis Roque and Dr. Jerry Rumberger will be providing dental services for this event at the health department in Indian River County, located at 1900 27th Street in Vero Beach, on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Treatment slots are limited so please arrive early and bring a non-perishable food item to help put a smile on someone else’s face for the holidays.
